Holiday Home Tour

This year's line up...

The Ben and Rose Lucio Home

Entering this updated ranch-style home will transport you into Christmas delights throughout. You’ll sense their love of Christmas with the living room fireplace ablaze, the charming winter village tucked into the bay window and a glowing mantel and tree beautifully decorated. More personal and charming than a Thomas Kinkade painting, each room takes on a holiday theme of its own – The Snowman guest room, Beyerlein heritage laundry, and a garland once used by a SoCal Starbucks placed as a memento around a bathroom mirror.
Ben and Rose focus most intentionally on the handcrafted stable displaying an authentic M.I Hummel nativity set given to Rose’s Uncle Eddy Beyerlein by Wally Bronner. Rose has crafted other pieces to enhance the display. You’ll find more of these stables made by Uncle Eddy in every room, each one a testament to the family’s love of Christ. But where is the Baby Jesus? Music will be provided in the dining room by a 1902 Thomas Edison Amberola phonograph originally owned by Rose’s grandfather Burtis Seeber. Rose will periodically share DIY ideas throughout the day to inspire your home décor.

“We hope your visit with us this Christmas season will fill you with joy and inspiration for your own home and a renewed sense of Christ’s love.
Thank you for stopping by, and Merry Christmas.” Ben and Rose

Furbush Home
Flip the calendar back to 1955 to remember Mid-Century Modern – the turquoise accents,
contemporary furniture of simple lines, long and low. This 1955 built home, remembered by
locals as “The Felgner Home,” has original features which are treasured by the Furbushes,
especially the unique Roman Brick on the exterior and two-way fireplace in the center of the home.
Themed Christmas trees found in several rooms have become traditions over the years. The
Star Wars Tree in Joey’s room is decorated with sabers once used at the Furbush’s wedding
reception in 2001. Hallmark and Bronner Christmas Wonderland collections are on display on the home including a Hockey Tree in Jack’s “new” room.
The guest bedroom or “Aunt Carrie’s Room” holds sweet memories when it was a nursery for
son Jack. Many vintage ornaments from Mrs. Felgner were given to Jamie by friend Beth Keller
and are appropriately decorating a tree where Mr. Felgner had his office.
Recent major renovations have reclaimed the garage for a master bedroom, En Suite closet and
laundry all in harmony with the mid-century look. The floating platform bed and exposed
aggregate floor to resemble terrazzo are indicative of the period.
This family credits young Joey at age five for influencing the purchase of this home as he ran in the yard with excitement after a peek at the river. The sunroom with its expansive windows has doubled over the years as a winter warming house for an ice rink in the big back yard.
The many renovations were a family project including skills from their parents. The whole
Furbush family is happy to share their home with you this Christmas and wish you much Joy.

Uphold Home
This beloved home of Russ Uphold and daughter Mackenzie is reminiscent of a
1920’s bungalow formerly owned by local builder Bob Baker. It’s located in the
historic Geyer Subdivision strategically built “uphill” from devastating flooding areas
before the dike was built.
Original flooring in the entrance leads to the winding oak stairway just passed the
Christmas Village and manger and shows the way up to a 10 ft. stained glass window
from a Detroit area church. Original wall sconces reflect the 1920’s period. Each
upstairs bedroom is complete with a Christmas tree with various themes.  The master
bedroom reveals the old brick chimney that Russ’s artistic eyes value.
The first floor living area features treasured memories of his 35 years in law
enforcement and many family keepsakes. Every home should have a leg lamp just for
fun. Drive by at night to enjoy when it’s lit. Additional art pieces are from his
mother’s hand and friends. The covered front porch as well as back deck areas offer
welcoming warmth and holiday music or movies.
Russ eagerly welcomes you to his home and would love to speak further about your
interests in his home, especially the history of his neighborhood.
